Thousands of yoga enthusiasts, spiritual leaders, government representatives, schoolchildren and community members from diverse backgrounds gathered at the Durban Amphitheatre on Sunday, June 21, 2026, to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga, hosted by the Sivananda World Peace Foundation.

Held under the theme, “Yoga for Anti-Aging”, the event promoted physical health, mental well-being and social cohesion while highlighting yoga’s ability to bridge cultural and social divides.

The celebrations were attended by His Majesty, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini; the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal; the Consul General of India in Durban; spiritual leaders from various faiths; yoga federations; and wellness groups. The event saw an estimated 3,000 participants moving in unison as they embraced the ancient practice. Organisers said the annual event continues to grow in popularity, bringing together people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds in a shared commitment to health, mindfulness and unity.
