Sivananda World Peace Foundation Hosts Sivananda Yoga for Peace on the 18th October 2025 at 10h30am at the Zululand Yacht Club, Richards Bay Celebrating 17th Anniversary of the Sivananda World Peace Foundation138th Birth Anniversary of Sri Swami Sivananda & 100th Birth Anniversary of Sri Swami Sahajananda The Sivananda World Peace Foundation is proud to announce its upcoming event, Sivananda Yoga for Peace, featuring esteemed guests Swami Advaitananda, General Secretary of The Divine Life Society in Rishikesh, India, and Swami Aksharananda, member of the board of The Divine Life Society, India.
His Holiness, Sri Swami Abhedananda, Spiritual head of the Chinmaya Mission of South Africa will also be part of this historic occasion. We place on record our sincere thanks to the Sivananda fellowship of South Africa for having made arrangements to bring the Swami’s on a tour to South Africa.
This special event aims to promote peace, harmony, and unity through the practice of Sivananda Yoga. The foundation believes that yoga has the power to transform individuals and society as a whole, fostering a deeper sense of connection and understanding."We are honored to host Swami Advaitananda and Swami Aksharananda, who embody the principles of yoga and selfless service," said Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman Mabheka Zulu, President of the Sivananda World Peace Foundation.
"Their presence will undoubtedly inspire and uplift our community."The event will feature Sivananda Yoga session, meditation and discourse on the philosophy of yoga and its application in daily life.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced instructors and connect with like-minded individuals. Many Yoga Teachers will be honoured on this most auspicious occasion as we celebrate the 17th Anniversary of the Sivananda World Peace foundation and 138th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness Sri Swami Sri Swami Sivananda was born in 8th September 1887 and attained Mahasamadhi on 14th July 1963.‘Serve, love, give, purify, meditate, realise, Be Good and Do Good.’ A revered saint of modern times Swami Sivananda is the inspiration behind the Sivananda World peace foundation and its activities in promoting oneness and ubuntu. Born in south India he served for many years as a medical doctor before renouncing worldly life and establishing an ashram in Rishikesh, north India in 1932.His mission was to serve humanity through yoga and in 1936 founded the Divine Life Society Headquarters in Rishikesh, India.
He developed the Yoga of Synthesis, an amalgamation of the Four Paths of Yoga that he summarised as: ‘Serve, love, give, purify, meditate, realise.’ He is the author of more than 300 books on all aspects of yoga providing spiritual guidance to millions around the world. Though he never left his native India his teachings quickly spread internationally, leaving a legacy of love, peace and knowledge still unfolding today.
Sivananda Yoga Vahanam (Taking yoga to the communities) project.The objective of us having the mobile yoga vehicle is to create awareness about yoga and how it benefits everyone in better understanding the significance of traditional and authentic yoga techniques. At the initiative of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, a resolution to establish 21st June as "International Day of Yoga" was approved.
In its resolution, the UNGA recognized that Yoga provided a holistic approach to health and well-being, and wider dissemination of the information on the benefits of practicing Yoga should be given for overall health of the world population.
In his address at the UN General Assembly, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi said: "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being". By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, Yoga can help us deal with climate change too.
LAUNCH SAVE OUR RIVERS AND TREES CAMPAIGN Sivananda World Peace Foundation Launches "Save Our Rivers and Trees" Campaign The Sivananda World Peace Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its "Save Our Rivers and Trees" campaign, a comprehensive initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainability. This campaign is a call to action to protect our planet's precious natural resources and ensure a healthier future for generations to come.
The "Save Our Rivers and Trees" campaign focuses on two critical areas:
1. Keeping Our Rivers Clean: The foundation will work tirelessly to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining clean rivers, free from pollution and waste. This will involve organizing community clean-up events, collaborating with local authorities to implement effective waste management systems, and educating the public about the impact of their actions on river ecosystems.
2. Protecting Our Natural Environment: The campaign will also emphasize the need to preserve and protect our natural environment, including forests, wildlife habitats, and other ecosystems.
